What could cause a great falling away,
I have one idea, please hear what I say.
A great disappointment could be sure,
If you don't see what you are hoping for.

For many Christians it is Christ's return,
It is the big event for which many yearn.
But what if the doctrine just isn't sound,
And the Lord just never comes around?

Even tho some waited for many years,
In the end they'll all be filled with tears.
Why it failed to happen nobody knows,
But years pass & disappointment grows.

So with disappointment faith can be lost,
As folks will no longer follow at any cost.
Thus we see our faith taking a major hit,
As many Christians say it is time to quit.

A great falling away, can you see it now?
Do you understand the why & the how?
The tragedy is that what I stated is true,
So many Christians don't have any clue.

They place their faith in what will not be,
Their eyes are closed & they cannot see.
Deceived by false doctrine they are blind,
For futurism has fully clouded their mind.

Although the Bible makes the truth plain,
They believe a huge lie though it is in vain.
Believing men's doctrines is quite absurd,
Shouldn't we just take God at His word?
