GARRAPIÑADOS

The long road to doom began for me,
Down in Mexico at age twenty-three.
Garrapiñados was my biggest crime,
They would rot my teeth over time.
I did not know it, they tasted good,
I should have stopped, if I only could.
Coated peanuts, indeed what a treat,
Left all my choppers in total defeat.
Covered in caramel, and colored red,
But one by one my teeth left my head.
Years of pain would soon then follow,
Now at seventy my mouth is so hollow.
Yessiree, not one tooth is left in sight,
I have got nothing with which to bite.
So dear kiddies, don't you be like me,
Avoid those nuts if your eyes do see.
From those red devils, yes, turn away,
And keep your teeth for another day.
