OLD BAG
by Bill Kochman
10-14-2020
I don't drink coffee, and I don't drink tea,
I don't drink water, that is from the sea.
Now there's a good reason, you see I'm old,
So only certain things, my stomach can hold.
Some of you out there, will know what I mean,
I am no longer running, a brand new machine.
It's got its groans, and it's got its creaks,
And sometimes, man, it just so really reeks.
I'm not being funny, and I'm not being crude,
I speak the truth, I am really one old dude.
Now you may say, "Oh, it won't happen to me",
Just give it years, and you will likewise see.
God gives us each, a certain number of years,
Some days are happy, while others bring tears.
But one of these days, and God surely knows,
The last page comes, and our book will close.
