It used to be said, better dead than red,
But there's another way to understand it,
Covered by His Blood, hides all our mud,
Or our sins, so we're not left stranded.

For if we are not red, we'll end up dead,
Eternal Life won't be ours for the taking,
Our sins will accuse us, when Satan sues us,
So in needing Christ, there's no mistaking.

Only by His Blood red, can it truly be said,
That forgiveness of sins can be acquired,
But if we believe not, in a place very hot,
One day we'll surely find ourselves retired.
