I was reading an opinion piece in the Pacific Daily News -- one of Guam's local newspapers -- called "Why Not Let Them Have Nukes?". Written by Arun R. Swamy -- who happens to be an Associate Professor of Political Science at our island's well-known University of Guam -- the piece dealt with North Korea, the current Iran War, the proliferation of nuclear weapons and related topics. Generally speaking, Mr. Swamy's column was well-written, and a clearly-thought-out opinion piece which I in large part agreed with. For the most part, the column was well-balanced as well, with one exception which I will mention momentarily.

Upon reading the piece, I reflected upon its contents for a moment, and then I decided to write the following article. As I have mentioned on previous occasions in other Bill's Bible Basics articles, when discussing the story of current nuclear states, it should not be overlooked that there is a considerable degree of hypocrisy involved. What do I mean by this? Well, consider the following facts.

As of this current date, there are five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, all of which are openly declared nuclear states. These countries are Russia, China, the United States, France and Great Britain. One of them -- obviously the USA -- is the only country to date which has ever used nuclear weapons -- atomic bombs to be specific -- against another country. This, of course, occurred near the end of World War 2, and in fact was a major contributing factor to ending that horrific war.

As some of my readers will undoubtedly already know, the August 1945 dropping of "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki only a few days apart resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands of Japanese citizens over time, many of whom were civilians. Those who were not immediately vaporized, eventually died from radiation sickness, various types of cancer, and other slow-killing maladies. Other Japanese citizens who somehow managed to survive the two nuclear blasts were mentally, emotionally and sometimes hideously physically scarred for life.

But returning to the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, while they have nuclear weapons of their own, these five nations claim to possess the moral authority to insist that no other country on Earth should ever possess such devastating weapons. In short, they don't want anyone else to join their nuclear club. They want to be the only ones who rule the nest. Personally, while I understand their position and what motivates them to take that stance, at the same time, I cannot ignore the hypocrisy of the same either.

Thus, through various bullying measures, including economic sanctions, peer pressure campaigns, IAEA -- that is to say, International Atomic Energy Agency -- inspections, threats of violence, and in fact since 2003, even including outright war -- the Iraq War and the current Iran War -- they have sought to enforce their will upon the rest of the world for the past eighty years or so, insofar as the possession of nuclear weapons is concerned.

Then we also have a number of what are referred to by the permanent N-Club members as rogue nuclear states. While some of my readers may disagree with me, first and most notorious amongst these rogue nuclear states is the nation of Israel, which for some very odd reason, seems to be treated with kid gloves. That is to to say, Israel seems to be treated with special preference, and quite differently from other nuclear states. Exactly why is this? Why does the United Nations bow to Israel, turn its head the other way, and give Israel such preferential treatment?

For example, in case you were not aware of it, even though it is a well-known fact that Israel possesses nuclear weapons, not only has Israel never openly declared its nuclear status -- and remained with impunity -- but it has also never been a signatory to the 1970 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty -- or NPT -- which was extended indefinitely in 1995. Boasting 191 signatories as of April 2026, the three-fold goals of this landmark international accord are the following:

1. prevent the spread of nuclear weapons.

2. promote peaceful nuclear energy use.

3. achieve disarmament.

Furthermore, aside from not being an actual signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, the nation state of Israel has also consistently refused to even allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to ever inspect its nuclear sites, such as the Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center at Dimona, which is believed to be Israel's primary nuclear research site. Yet in a complete show of blatant hypocrisy, for years now, Israel has made demands on, made threats against, and now even attacks and wars against Iran, which wants to join the same nuclear club, despite Iran's claims to the contrary. I discuss the ongoing Iran War in related Bill's Bible Basics articles such as in "Iran War and the Mind of the President", and "America vs. Iran: This Was an Act of War", which you'll find listed at the end of this same article.

As you have probably heard by now, given that the Iran War has been making front page news for weeks now, the Iranians have always insisted that insofar as nuclear reactors are concerned, their only goal is to produce more energy so as to meet their national infrastructure needs. They claim that that their goal is NOT to produce nuclear weapons. However, according to the info I have read, the general consensus is that no country processes or enriches uranium-235 to 60% purity -- as Iran is alleged to have now accomplished based on some Israeli sources -- unless it has clear intentions of producing nuclear weapons.

For those of my readers who may not be aware of exactly how the process of uranium enrichment occurs, when uranium-235 is enriched to 60%, it creates what is referred to as HEU, or Highly Enriched Uranium. The IAEA's concern -- and, of course, Israel's concern as well -- is that 60% enrichment is very close to the 90% threshold, which is usually what is considered to be weapons-grade uranium.

Well, as you may likewise know, for several decades, Israeli officials -- most notably rather hawkish Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu -- frequently warned of Iran's nuclear ambitions and capabilities. These warnings gradually intensified to the point that by 2015, Israel was warning that Iran would have nuclear weapons within a matter of just a few months, and then within a matter of just a few weeks. Then, by June of 2025, Israel claimed that Iran had enough 60% enriched uranium to create approximately nine or ten nuclear weapons within a matter of ten days, if their enriched uranium was to be processed any further, meaning to a 90% purity level.

As we all know, based on that claim, Israel and the United States attacked Iran's three primary uranium processing sites at Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan in June of 2025, using so-called "bunker buster" bombs. According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the three sites were obliterated. Yet despite the president's claim -- which some people have questioned -- Iran refused to back down from its position of having the legitimate right to process uranium, and thus negotiations continued. That is, of course, until Israel and the United States engaged in surprise attacks against Iran on February 28, 2026 -- even while negotiations were still occurring -- which initiated the beginning of Operation Epic Fury. This devastating war has continued unabated as of the time of this writing at the end of April 2026.

Furthermore, the war has in fact not only expanded across the Middle East so that it has now engulfed other countries -- particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council States -- but it has likewise negatively affected global stock markets, energy markets -- resulting in the price of oil fluctuating wildly -- global food security and much more. These negative developments are in large part due to the fact that despite being severely battered by Israel and the United States as the war has progressed, Iran continues to tightly control the Strait of Hormuz, even as the United States threatens with a potential -- and very difficult -- ground invasion, most likely beginning with Kharg Island, through which 90% of Iranian oil is said to flow.

To make matters even worse, at this current time -- April 28, 2026 -- both Iran and the United States are trying to control the Strait of Hormuz. Under U.S. President Trump's direction, a naval blockade has been set up in the region, and a number of vessels -- presumably oil tankers -- have already been detained and boarded. For its part, Iran has also bombed a few vessels, and detained a few as well. So it is a total mess right now with no clear end in sight. At the same time, negotiations between the USA and Iran have been on-again and off-again in Pakistan, as both side make their particular demands and set their conditions.

Concerning what the real truth is regarding the accusations which have been made against Iran by both Israel and the United States, all I can offer you is the following. As a civilian who only has access to the information which is made available to the public, I honestly cannot say who is speaking the truth. Yes, I am fully aware of the Iranian regime's hatred of Israel and the United States. However, more than that, I honestly cannot say. What I do know is that for weeks, if not for months now -- and actually, for many years if we consider Israel's vitriol against Iran -- a rather serious campaign of gaslighting and psychological manipulation has been pursued, as all sides in the debate have tried to sway public opinion to their particular point of view.

Personally, I do not trust the Israelis or the Iranians. For that matter, neither do I fully trust the American government either. Furthermore, neither do I fully trust the mainstream media, or the Internet and the social networks. As I've said many times before, the political systems of men -- no matter which type of system we are talking about -- are all marked by greed, dishonesty, deception and corruption. After all, every single one of them is ruled and controlled by the evil children of the world, who will do as the children of the world will do. Thus, the very best advice I can offer you is found in the following two Bible verses:

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes."
Psalm 118:8-9, KJV

One thing which you may find very interesting is the fact that the previous two Bible verses form the very center of the KJV Bible. In my mind, that would seem to emphasize their importance.

While I cannot tell you with one hundred per cent certainty who is speaking the truth regarding Iran possessing -- or perhaps soon possessing -- nuclear weapons, let me also add the following for your consideration. Let us not forget the lessons which were learned -- or which at least should have been learned -- from the American fiasco known as the Iraq War, which involved Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, and the bogus claim that he too possessed WMD, or Weapons of Mass Destruction.

What do I mean by this? Well, just as the Iranian ayatollahs and the IRGC -- Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps -- were demonized for years prior to the 2026 Iran War commencing, the same thing occurred prior to the Iraq War which began in 2003. Saddam Hussein was demonized as well. And actually, US hostility towards Iraq began more than a decade earlier with U.S. President George H. W. Bush, who as many of you know, was the father of U.S. President George W. Bush. The latter Bush's foolish, ill-conceived and illegal 2003 invasion of Iraq was basically a continuation of what his father started years earlier during the 1990s. Some people say that Bush Jr. wanted to do what his father had failed to accomplish. That is to say, take out Saddam Hussein.

As I explain in articles such as "Saddam Hussein's Execution and the Euro Dollar War" and "Obama, McCain and the Bush Legacy", if there is one thing I have come to realize, it is that the American government always engages in a campaign of gaslighting and psychological manipulation -- sometimes for weeks, or even for years -- against the American public, in advance, so that gullible American citizens will foolishly support their government's war endeavors. We have seen this occur over and over again down through the decades. However, some people have begun to wake up, and are now demanding no more wars and American foreign intervention.

For me personally, as a Bible-believing Christian, perhaps one of the great tragedies of the 2026 Iran War is that so many American Christians have become very drunk on the MAGA -- Make America Great Again -- spirit, and blindly walk in lockstep behind President Donald Trump, as if he is their political messiah. It seems that Mr. Trump can do no wrong in their sight, and they will support him and defend him no matter what, even if he leads them into war against another nation.

Even worse, these same Christians are filled with bloodlust, and they have foolishly cheered every bomb that Donald Trump has dropped on Iran. As I explain in other BBB articles such as "Iran War and the Mind of the President", and "Beware of Dominionism!, the Trump administration is literally filled with Christian Nationalists -- such as the Dominionists and the New Apostolic Reformation, led by Paula White-Cain -- who firmly believe that using violence to defeat their perceived enemies is justified in the sight of God. That begins with the current U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth. In fact, for those of my readers who may be interested, just a week ago, I composed a new song called "Drunk on MAGA" which you are free to listen to on this same Bill's Bible Basics website, as well as on my YouTube channel at the follow two URL:

But tell me, my dear friends. Exactly what did Jesus himself and the Apostles teach regarding this subject? If you are not aware of it, then please consider the following Bible verses and take heed:

"From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."
James 4:1-3, KJV

"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."
Psalm 20:7, KJV

"And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
Isaiah 2:4, KJV

"And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
Micah 4:3, KJV

"And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus [meaning the Apostle Peter] stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?"
Matthew 26:51-53, KJV

"And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,‭ And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.‭ And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.‭ And when his disciples James and John saw ‭this‭, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?‭ But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.‭ For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save ‭them‭. And they went to another village.‭"
Luke 9:51-56, KJV

"When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?‭ And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.‭ And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.‭"
Luke 22:49-51, KJV

"Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?"
John 18:10-11, KJV

"And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth."
Revelation 11:18, KJV

"He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints."
Revelation 13:10, KJV

In complete contrast to this ugly, violent and destructive picture of continuous, bloody human conflict and the death spiral that results from it, consider what the Bible also states regarding those people who strive to live a life of peace. Truly, the meek shall inherit the Earth, and NOT the violent warmongers:

"But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
Psalm 37:11, KJV

"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth . . . Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God . . . But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."
Matthew 5:5, 9, 44-45, KJV

"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, LIVE PEACEABLY WITH ALL MEN."
Romans 12:18, KJV

"Finally‭, brethren‭, farewell‭‭. Be perfect‭‭, be of good comfort‭‭, be of one‭ mind‭‭, LIVE IN PEACE‭‭; and‭ the God‭ of love‭ and‭ peace‭ shall be‭‭ with‭ you‭.‭"
2 Corinthians 13:11, KJV

Turning aside from Israel and the 2026 Iran War, then, of course, we have U.S. President Donald Trump's failure to prevent North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, from acquiring nuclear weapons. Despite Trump's attempts to entice Kim to abandon his nuclear ambitions -- by offering him American promises of national wealth and the modernization of his country -- Kim did NOT take Mr. Trump's bait. As a result, as I very directly point out in the series entitled "World at War: What About Guam?", nuclear weapons now pose a very serious and potential threat to my home island of Guam in the Mariana Islands archipelago, in the northwest Pacific Ocean. Please note that this is in addition to any Russian and Chinese missiles which may also already be pointed at us.

Earlier, I mentioned that in my personal opinion, there was one exception to Mr. Arun Swamy's PDN opinion piece being well-balanced. My reason for saying this is simple. It did not escape me that while discussing nuclear states, Swamy made absolutely no mention whatsoever of the fact that both India and Pakistan are nuclear states, and that on a number of occasions in recent years, they appeared to be close to engaging in nuclear war. I wonder why Mr. Swamy failed to mention this? Could it have anything to do with his family name?

The fact of the matter is that any country anywhere in the world possessing nuclear weapons should be viewed as being utter madness. Furthermore, it is my opinion that the idea of creating nuclear weapons in the first place was surely born in the very pits of Hell itself by the Devil himself, whose only goal is to steal, kill and destroy, as the Lord himself taught in the Gospel of John. This is a topic which I more amply explore in the article entitled "Science and Technology: The Forbidden Knowledge?" which you will find listed at the end of this same article with a clickable or tappable link. Please consider the following set of Bible verses:

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. HE WAS A MURDERER FROM THE BEGINNING, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
John 8:44, KJV

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy HIM THAT HAD THE POWER OF DEATH, THAT IS, THE DEVIL; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."
Hebrews 2:14-15, KJV

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
John 10:10, KJV

"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil . . . Not as Cain, WHO WAS OF THAT WICKED ONE, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."
1 John 3:8, 12, KJV

As I mentioned a moment ago, in my view, no nation should possess nuclear weapons. But the question is, exactly how do we get rid of them? Let's be honest with ourselves. No current nuclear state is ever going to just willingly and voluntarily give them up. In fact, as we have already seen, with each passing year, more and more countries strive to obtain such destructive weapons, because they view them as an extra layer of security. Thus, we find ourselves caught in a deadly trap of our own foolish making. It is as if we are a dystopian science fiction novel just waiting to happen someday. Will we end up being a self-fulfilled prophecy?

The sad truth is that some eighty years ago, the proverbial nuclear Pandora's Box was opened, and now there is simply no way for anyone to really close it. What are the current five major nuclear states going to do? Will they just attack every single nation that strives to create its own nuclear arsenal, just as Israel and the United States have done with Iran? So again, as pessimistic as it may be, it seems to me that we have nothing to look forward to but a very dark, violent and dangerous future. May God have mercy on us all, and may He forgive us for our utter foolishness and violent nature.

With these thoughts, I will bring this article to a close. It is my hope that you have found it informative, enlightening, and I pray that it has been a blessing in your life as well.
